M & T we're married at the stunning Byre at Inchyra. They had decided from the start it would be a donut tower for them with a smaller cake on top. The flavour for the cake would be lemon sponge with vanilla buttercream and lemon curd. But the style? That would change.
M saw the lambeth design online and fell in love. This was the one for them.
Some call this a retro style cake but it's an over piping technique that creates intricate details using lots of layers of icing. The technique can be used to create very dramatic but elegant designs or a much more subtle design with scrolls and garlands. The Lambeth technique became popular in the 1930's and is making a massive comeback with social media proving once again it's influence over wedding decision making.
I have several of these cakes already booked in over this wedding season and no doubt will have many more to come.
What do you think?
